Bubbles in the Snow – Incredible Frozen Pictures by Susan Byerly

Using simple soap bubbles and cold weather, Susan Byerly has created a portfolio of incredible frozen bubble photos. The pictures show bubbles in different stages; frozen completely, partially frozen and not frozen at all, but all are in the snow. She shoots with a Canon 50D and 5D II along with a 28-135mm lens.

“This past January when temperatures were well below freezing, I combined my love of photography, layers of warm clothes, snow and bubbles to create my “Bubbles in the Snow” pictures. Most of these pictures were taken in 12-17 degree weather. The colder the temperatures, the faster the ice crystals start to form eventually covering the bubble turning it into a beautiful frozen sphere.”

Susan enjoys all types of photography but her love for the outdoors draws her to focus more on landscapes and birds. Susan continues to learn new ideas and techniques to help improve her photos. We can’t wait to see more of her frozen bubble pictures next year!
