B/W Scenes at a Bus Stop by Ali Waxman

In his interesting series ‘Bus Stop Scenes‘, Ali Waxman limits his view on the world to the frames of bus stops. The project is an attempt to explore the darkness and beauty of existence through a small slice of human life. “My scenes at the bus stop began with just seeing an interesting and engaging composition with diverse people waiting at the same place at the same time for the same reason,” he says. “I choose to keep them all in black and white for the simple reason of uniformity.” Everyday there’s a new scene and it’s fascinating how many different stories can be told through this simple set-up. Ali’s ultimate goal is to be able to pay for his subjects’ bus fares.

Excellent series, perfect B&W study. 3 images really stand out:

1) The woman weeping while the other woman looks on;
2) The woman prone on the bench with her hair hanging down;
3) The two women(?) with their faces wrapped (plastic surgery?).

Really enjoyed viewing this series.
