Incredible Landscapes by Colorblind Photographer Kilian Schönberger
- By: Tim Kok
Kilian Schönberger, a German photographer and geographer, can’t distinguish green from red, magenta from grey, or violet from blue. Despite this ‘handicap’, he aspired to be a photographer. In fact, “I recognized that I could turn this so-called disadvantage into a strength, too, and developed my own unique photographic view,” he says. The colorblindness forces him to focus on patterns and composition to create a powerful image structure, instead of different color tones. His work is truly amazing. For his landscape photography he prefers temperate, mountainous environments such as the Alps, with their “harsh beauty” and “peculiar melancholy”. Here’s a selection of Kilian’s latest landscapes.
