Stop-Motion USA Travel Video
Stop-motion video of West Coast of Canada and USA.
Music: “Road To Hell” by Sleigh Bell
A few months ago my wife and I honeymooned the West Coast of North America: from Vancouver, Canada, to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Over the period of 35 days we traveled 3500 miles, mostly by rental cars.
I shot 16,500 stills, 400GB, for that I had to empty the sd cards almost every day, to an external hard drive. I later edited it to this 2:45 minutes stop-motion video, I’ve tried to do it as upbeat as I could.
A few facts: I’ve been to 7 US states and 27 motels, rented 5 cars, crashed 1 of them, no injuries. Number of flights: 7
My gear was the Sony RX1 mirrorless camera, without a tripod.
I’ve decided doing it stop-motion because I wanted a 6K res video + stills album, without having to decide between the two when on-site. I also wanted smooth camera movement, accurate AF, and minimal gear. The RX1 is very convenient for street photography – silent shutter and a fast 35mm lens.
Full Route: Vancouver – Seattle – Portland – Yosemite Park – San Francisco – Monterey – Los Angeles – Zion Park – Bryce Park – Las Vegas – Hoover Dam – Williams – Grand Canyon – Antelope Canyon – Flagstaff – Sedona – Albuquerque – Santa Fe
